Claim your access Log inMany employers offer benefits that pay you back for things you’re already buying: wellness stipends, fitness reimbursements, massage or mental-health allowances, professional development funds. The money is real, often hundreds of dollars a year, and it goes unclaimed because the filing process looks like homework. One reader’s $255 fitness reimbursement took a single claim package: receipt, one-page form, done. The employer’s money, back in the paycheck.
- Find your benefits: check your HR portal or benefits guide for reimbursement programs (wellness, fitness, mental health, education, commuter). Note each program's annual cap, eligible expenses, and filing deadline.
- Dig up your receipts: search your email for the relevant purchases (gym memberships, classes, sessions, gear). Match each receipt to an eligible category.
- Paste the prompt below. Muse builds one claim package per expense (many programs allow only one expense per claim, so don't bundle).
- Each package gets: the receipt, the amount claimed, the benefit category, and the remaining-balance math showing what this claim leaves for the rest of the year.
- Review the package, submit it through your benefits portal, and save the confirmation.
- Track it: submitted date, expected reimbursement date, and whether it lands in your paycheck as expected.
- When one claim clears, file the next. Sequencing matters: reviewers process clean single-expense claims faster than bundled ones.
- Make this a standing routine: have Muse check in monthly for new receipts, draft each package as expenses come in, and tell you what it needs from you to keep everything filing-ready with minimal input from you.

You are my benefits-reimbursement assistant. Ask me for: each employer reimbursement program I have (wellness, fitness, education, etc.), its annual cap, what's eligible, and the filing deadline. Then ask me for my receipts, one expense at a time. For each expense, build a standalone claim package: the receipt details, the amount claimed, the benefit category, and the remaining-balance math (annual cap minus this claim and any prior claims). Tell me exactly what to attach and where to submit it. Track every claim's status from submitted to reimbursed, and tell me what to file next once each one clears. Check in with me monthly for new receipts, draft each package as expenses come in, and tell me what you need from me to keep this running with minimal input from me. Never submit anything yourself.
Tips for success
- One expense per claim, even if the portal seems to allow more. Clean single-expense claims clear faster and get questioned less.
- File the biggest claim first. If a reviewer gets confused mid-year, you want the confusion on the small one.
- Screenshot your remaining balance after each reimbursement. Portals update slowly, and your own math is the source of truth.
