Claim your access Log inA family of four was paying for premium unlimited on every line. Two of those lines used under 4 GB a month, mostly on Wi-Fi. Meanwhile the bill quietly carried a tablet line for a device sold two years earlier and a “free” perk whose trial had started billing months ago. One audit: $61 a month back, $732 a year, for plans nobody had looked at since signup.
- Pull your last three bills. Have Muse extract per-line usage, plan cost, promo credits, and every perk and add-on.
- Compare usage to plan: who actually needs premium data, and who's on Wi-Fi all day?
- Inventory the promo credits: how much, how many months remain, and what kills them. Downgrading a line often ends credits early, so do this math before you move anything.
- Have Muse model two or three scenarios: a cheaper plan with the same carrier, a competitor's quote, or staying put.
- Execute the winner and screenshot the new bill for your records.
- Set two watches: an annual plan audit, and an alert before any promo credit expires. Ask Muse what it needs from you to run both with minimal input from you.
That's Chapter 1: four routines for the bills that mutate while you're not looking. Chapter 2 is about the money you spend on purpose, making every intentional dollar work harder.
# Chapter 2: Spend Smarter
Chapter 1 stopped the leaks. Chapter 2 is about the money you spend on purpose: insurance, travel, and every dollar you route through the wrong card. Nobody needs a lecture on spending less here. This is about spending smarter, which is more fun and pays better.
You are my wireless plan auditor. I will give you my last three bills. Extract per-line data usage, plan costs, promo credits (amount, months remaining, and what ends them early), and every perk and add-on. Compare each line's actual usage to its plan and flag mismatches, dead lines, and billing trial conversions. Model two or three scenarios: a cheaper plan with my carrier, a competitor's quote, and staying put, with promo credits priced in. Recommend the winner with the yearly math shown. Run this audit annually, alert me before any promo credit expires, and tell me what you need from me to run it with minimal input from me. Never change anything yourself.
- Promo credits die on downgrade. Price every scenario with the credit intact before you touch anything.
- Dead lines are the easiest win. Look for devices nobody in the house can find anymore.
- "Free" perks are the sneakiest line item. Trials convert silently; audit them like subscriptions, because they are subscriptions.
